guǐ yā shēn in Chinese culture literally translates into "ghost pressing on body" which is terminology for "sleep paralysis" which is a weird sleep disorder I've had on and off for as long as I can remember.

It's been back with a full force recently, weird visions of demons and shadows that turn into spiders. It is none to pleasant.

the good news is, as soon as you can rid yourself of the fear that is associated with these dreams, you will find yourself returning either back to sleep or waking up enough to where you can take care of the sleep paralysis, or demon on chest, or ghost pressing on body. However you want to call it.

once the fear is gone, there's nothing left holding you down.
